INTRO

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Visit Zamboanga collects when you use visitzamboanga.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it. We’ve tried to write this in plain language rather than dense legal text, though a few sections still need to be precise about how the law applies.

1. WHO WE ARE

Visit Zamboanga (visitzamboanga.com) is a Zamboanga City destination guide and tour reservation platform. It is currently operated by Renen Jose San Luis Navalta, an individual based in Zamboanga City, Philippines. References to “we,” “us,” “our,” or “Visit Zamboanga” in this policy refer to this operator.

We are not a tour operator. Tours listed on this site are run by iTravel Tourist Lane, a tour operator accredited by the Philippine Department of Tourism, Region IX (Accreditation No. DOTR9-TSR-2018-045). This distinction matters for this policy, since some of your data is shared with iTravel Tourist Lane as part of arranging your tour, explained in full in Section 4 below.

2. WHAT PERSONAL DATA WE COLLECT

We collect different data depending on how you use the site.

When you submit a tour reservation

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Preferred tour date
  • Number of travelers (pax)
  • Tour and package selected
  • Pickup location, if applicable to your tour

When you use the Contact Us form

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • The subject and content of your message
  • Order reference number, if you provide one

Automatically, when you browse the site

  • IP address
  • Browser type and device information
  • Pages visited and time spent on the site
  • Referring website or search terms that led you here
  • General location data (city or region level, derived from IP address)

This automatic data is collected through Google Analytics.

What we do not collect

We do not collect payment card numbers, GCash account numbers, or bank account details. Payment for your tour goes directly to iTravel Tourist Lane, not through visitzamboanga.com, see How Booking Works for the full explanation. We also do not collect government-issued ID information. If your tour requires you to present a valid ID in person, such as for ferry travel to Tawi-Tawi or Basilan, that ID is shown directly to iTravel Tourist Lane or the relevant transport provider, never submitted through this website.

3. HOW WE USE YOUR DATA

We use the data described above to:

  • Process and confirm your tour reservation
  • Communicate with you about your reservation, including confirmation emails and any changes
  • Respond to questions submitted through the Contact Us form
  • Share the minimum necessary booking details with iTravel Tourist Lane so they can check guide and vehicle availability and run your tour
  • Understand how visitors use the site, through Google Analytics, so we can improve the content and experience
  • Meet our own recordkeeping needs, such as commission reconciliation with iTravel Tourist Lane

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising retargeting at this time.

4. WHO WE SHARE YOUR DATA WITH

iTravel Tourist Lane. When you submit a reservation, we share your name, contact number, tour selection, pax count, and preferred date with iTravel Tourist Lane, the DOT-accredited operator who actually runs your tour. This is necessary for them to confirm guide and vehicle availability and coordinate your pickup. iTravel Tourist Lane also has limited, protected access to a shared Google Sheet used for commission reconciliation between us; this access does not extend beyond what’s needed for that purpose.

Google Analytics. Automatic browsing data described in Section 2 is processed by Google as part of our analytics setup. Google’s own privacy practices apply to how they process this data on our behalf. You can read Google’s privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Service providers. We use hosting, email delivery (FluentSMTP), and related technical services to run this website. These providers process data only as needed to deliver those services, not for their own independent purposes.

Legal requirements. We may disclose your data if required to do so by Philippine law, a valid court order, or a request from the National Privacy Commission or another competent authority.

We do not share your data with any other third party for their own marketing purposes.

5. COOKIES

This site uses cookies, small text files stored on your device, primarily through Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use the site.

You can also control cookies through your browser settings, most browsers let you block or delete cookies, though doing so may affect how parts of the site function.

6. DATA RETENTION

We retain reservation and contact data for as long as needed to fulfill the purpose it was collected for, and for a reasonable period after, to handle any follow-up questions, disputes, or recordkeeping obligations related to your booking.

Analytics data collected through Google Analytics is retained according to Google’s own default retention settings, unless you’ve configured a different retention period in your Analytics account.

7. YOUR RIGHTS UNDER THE DATA PRIVACY ACT

As a data subject under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173), you have the right to:

  • Be informed that your personal data will be, is being, or has been processed
  • Access your personal data that we hold
  • Correct any inaccurate or outdated personal data
  • Object to the processing of your personal data, in certain circumstances
  • Erasure or blocking of your personal data, in certain circumstances
  • Data portability, to obtain a copy of your data in an electronic format
  • File a complaint with the National Privacy Commission if you believe your data has been mishandled

8. DATA SECURITY

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes restricting iTravel Tourist Lane’s access to our shared Google Sheet to protected ranges only, and using standard hosting and email security practices.

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so while we work to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children without appropriate parental or guardian involvement. If a tour reservation includes children as part of a family or group booking, the data submitted is understood to be provided by the adult making the reservation on the group’s behalf.

10. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example as our tools, partners, or legal obligations change. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. We encourage you to review this page periodically, especially before submitting a reservation.
